Hi, would this d-link router be a suitable replacement for Eircoms D1000 router we're currently using?

Nope as it is a router only while the Eircom D1000 is a modem/router. So you'll either need to bridge the D1000 to use the D-Link or get a a new ADSL2+ modem/router

draytek 2760n is a good modem works on both adsl lines and efibre lines

if you intend to get efibre this modem will work perfectly

but before you throw away your f1000 make sure you download the latest firmware update for the draytec before connecting it to the phone line.

the latest firmware enables vectoring support on the draytec
