Holiday in January..

My sister and I are both in need of a holiday but we'll have to wait until she's off college in early January. Can anyone recommend somewhere for that time of year? I wouldn't mind a city break but I think I'd prefer a sunny, cultural holiday but with good night life. I'm not really thinking package holiday. I just want to come home thinking that I'd seen some amazing sights and had a few good nights out too :)

Carney Islands have warmest weather. up to 20ish degrees. Good night life and not to busy but nice time of year. Tenerife or Lanzarote probably the best two of the four.
