Ebay problem

I purchased a pair of boots from a company on ebay. They offered free UK delivery including NI (Parcel Motel) with option to pay £2 for a 48 hour delivery. After a few days I emailed them & got this response:

Hi, I have chased this up and you should be receiving them tomorrow. You have been refunded the 24 hour postage as you have not received them yet.

    Today I got this:

Hi Unfortunately the courier company we use have stopped shipping to your location however we can use an alternative courier who charge higher rates, The shipping charge to your Location is 15.00GBP, Can you please pay the shipping charge if you would like us to ship the item out. If you would not like to pay the charge we will refund you in full. Please advise, Thanks.

Are they committed to the original transaction ?

Interesting question. I had a similar experience on eBay recently. I asked for full refund as I had at the very beginning, before making any commitment to purchase, specifically asked what postage to Ireland was.
They won't ship and without you paying postage I suspect.
Sorry absolutely no help to you.
    Hope you get it sorted.

I had something similar and asked for a refund. I presume the extra £15 makes the boots way too expensive?

Basically it means that the seller can put whatever they like in the description.

£15 sounds a lot extra. The original shiping costs were included in the price, unless they did find a mysterious postman courier company that genuinely work for free ;)

So you should only be paying for the extra costs, above and beyond what the "free" post was. I would ask about this, and the courier name. I would also ask if they can send via royal mail who should have no differnce in price for mainland UK and NI.

I do believe their story about couriers not wanting to deal with parcel motel. If I was buying on ebay I would certainly tell any seller about my plan to use PM. Many will not touch them as it leaves them open to scams and they cannot track it properly.

Yes they are. they either have to fulfil the contract or provide you with a full refund. they have offered a refund so there's nothing really you can do.

You can leave negative feedback but they seem to have been as understanding as possible and they have communicated a lot, so i would feel bad leaving them negative feedback.

The big problem with Parcel Motel is that the packages don't go on their system until they get to Dublin. So something signed for in NI doesn't get logged straight away. Also a lot of sellers now charge extra to deliver to NI. Parcel Motel need a mainland address.

I left very negative feedback because they lied on the listing by stating that there was free postage & they then lied a second time by saying that the item was on it's way when it wasn't.

This is usually sellers using couriers. Royal mail take the hit and seem to absorb the extra costs involved in sending to NI

If they do you can expect a higher cost, as they are no longer taking advantage of the free ride royal mail give people. I would use it if the price was right.
