Finding Information About a Driving Conviction

    Afternoon all....

16 years ago (or so) I was driving my parents car and had an accident. The other guy was partly at fault but due to the car having two relatively bald rear tires I received an endorsement. I can't remember what I was convicted with (either "driving without due care and intent" or "careless driving").

Is there anywhere I could find this out?

Essentially all these years later I'm still being refused car insurance and I'd like to have the facts when the insurance companies ask the questions.

Maybe try your local Citizen's Advice Bureau, they will not have the information you are looking for but they advise you on who might have it. The CAB's advice is free.

If it was an endorsement on your license would Shannon have a record of it?

Surely after 16 years this would be classed as a 'spent' conviction so any Insurance company cant use this against you when providing a quote? If they are, is it worthwhile contacting the Ombudsman?
