How many interviews for the same company?!

Hi there, sorry for the long post. I have been looking for a job for a year now.

Last January i thought i had one as I had been called back to the company 3 times for interviewing.

The first visit was for numeracy tests, the 2nd was an interview with the head guy and his colleague plus practical tests, and the third was to meet the department managers that i would be working for. (Total 6 hours i was there)

Ok got through all that and they said they were checking my references. Then the company was taken over and "recruitment was put on hold"

    Unlucky me.

So saw they advertised recently so went for a similar job with same company again. Was onto HR and they said i could skp the tests. I was over there all afternoon from 2pm (took time off work etc) and unfortunately didnt get the job. Another 2.5 hours of my time spent doing practical tests again and an interview.

They have more jobs advertised now and i dont know whether to go for them or not! The pay isnt outstanding and i dont really like the fact they interview so in depth with these tests for jobs that arent really that high paying.

I have asked hr if its worth my while appling again and they just said try and see, we dont know.

What do you guys think? Would you take more time off work for this or just let it sink and concentrate somewhere else?

    Thanks!

I'd leave it unless they are your dream company. youve tried twice, teh first time around is fair enough but the second time around under new ownership. they even told you you wouldnt have to do teh teste but you ende dup doing them anyway.

Is the pay better than your current job?

Is it a better company than your current company?

Is it closer to your home?

We need more information before we can give you a proper answer.

    No pay is much worse.

My reason for finding a job is that im helping to run a small family business but I would like to do an engineering job. With any of those jobs pay is crap until u get a bit of experience.

I really dont want to be left with the burden of a business to run especially with 2 young kids.
Its looking like im being put in charge in a business that i havent worked in from the ground up so i dont know how to do the persons job below me. Therefore i dont think im the person that should be running the place in the future. I already have problems with workers looking down on me/ being cheeky as they know im paid more but need them for the business to run smoothly.

Both places are equal distance form my home. The new job would have flexible working hours too. I think i might be happier there too.

Im dying for an engineering job as i can really work hard at it but cant seem to get one. :(

    Gotcha.

Sounds like you should go for it.

Remind yourself the interviews are just at the beginning, so once you're in, you can forget about them. Personally I like the sound of this company - they are trying hard to hire the right people.

    Thanks LM,

Im just weary of going in there again. They literally have no more practical tests or interview questions they can ask me at this stage. I know the first question is always why do u want to work for us? then "tell us about a time when u had to work really hard for something" and then "what would you do if this happened?" queue long story . . . .

Bit of a downer that i have to hand write an application form again now and take more time off work.

I would go for it. If it frees up more time to look for something else, you have less responsibility and you don't have ridiculous co-irkers looking down their nose at you then it sounds like it would be worth a try. If you don't get it this time then cross it off the list for good.

You have absolutely nothing to lose by going for it.

My only problem is taking time off work again and hand writing an application form . . . again!

I suppose it depends on how much u want it.

Thanks for your replies, ill definately think about it.
