I received a letter today stating that I was paid €16.70 that I was not entitled too from 09/09/2014. They demand I pay back this sum. There two things wrong with this. Firstly I signed off the dole on Monday 08/09/2014 to start College.Secondly I never went to the post office to draw out 16.70. I have no clue where this figure came from and its really annoying me.

I would appreciate some help , thanks.

Payments ''sit'' in the post office for a few days & if not claimed are returned to DSP.

When your letter was issued the payment run had probably been done already so was automatically sent to the PO anyway even though you didn't pick it up. It must have been too late for them to correct their error & just sent out a standard letter. It will be returned as unclaimed to DSP.

Contact them in a few days to see if they've received it back from PO.

Thank's for the reply ! It does make more sense to me now.

Did you collect a payment for the 8th? If so that probably included payment for the 9th causing you to be overpaid by 1/6 of a weekly rate of €100.
