doing media studies course in gmit

Hi my son is hoping next year to do media studies either in galway or dublin. Any advice? Is it hard course etc. We will be popping to the open day next month hopefully. Ideally we would like to hear from people who have just started or are doing this course. All advice be grateful cheers.
