I've read conflicting things about painting parallel and also perpendicular to the light coming in the window. Any opinions on here?
    Cheers

Start parallel to the window and work back from it.Its much easier to see where is wet when looking towards the window.

Thanks! Wasn't sure of the reason why. Thought it was about showing up roller marks or something.

Jesus redser, you're going for super brownie points here! Note: paint anyway you want, roller marks are usually fron insufficient coats. On a regular ceiling, 2 should suffice. Get decent paint. And do this before you wallpaper the fire breast 😊

Cheers Dodzy. Whole place is getting a makeover :) Did the second coat yesterday, got a few lines but looks like they are only visible for a while in early morning when it's sunny. Not worth redoing the whole thing. Sweat was pumping after doing the whole thing in one go pretty fast. Foolishly thought the ceiling would be the easy bit!

I always was told you paint a ceiling in 2 directions. First roll one way, then while still wet roll again at 90 degrees.

If you think painting the ceilings are hard wait until you get to prep Doors and Skirtings before painting 2 more coats of undercoat and finish.

Thanks for that. Been there on the wood work :) Did the kitchen cabinates earlier in the year. Turned out lovely but nearly did me in. Doing the trim at the moment. Really enjoy that for some strange reason :)

I pretty much roll in what every direction I like and it has always turned out fine. I'm pretty nit picky about going over any roller marks though.
