It's been a while, so I thought I'd bring this 'IN'famous topic up again!
Any word on whether or 'not' the Government has apologised to Garth Brooks, Aiken, Ticket Master not to mention 400,000 ticket holders.. And maybe invited Garth to do one if not his last Concert of his World Tour in Ireland!?

Apologised for what? Enforcing the rules that Brooks and Aiken tried to break?

I was hoping I'd heard the end of this until at least this decade's Reeling in the Years.

Eh, Aiken didn't try to "break" any rules. They (Aiken, Croke Park etc) were entitled to apply for as many event licences as they liked, and when they did, they did so four weeks before the application deadline. The only person who could legitimately be accused of 'breaking the rules' was DCC, as three concerts had already been held this year and so granting another three on the same year went against the agreement which had been made between the venue and the residents but to be fair to Keegan, he gave the real reason behind his actions at the Oireachtas hearings, making it clear that it had nothing to do with honouring agreements or 'overintensification', it was really because he just didn't want DCC or himself looking like a "sell out":

And sure who could blame him. How was he to know the man in the Loius Copeland suit was not really a Croke Park resident, getting paid €15,000 to file the injunction to the courts. Totally understandable that he wanted to cancel at least one concert with that crap looming over his head. As he says, at least by granting just four, rather than five, he and DCC wouldn't like complete sell outs to the courts, had that injunction been legitimate that is. Turns out it wasn't of course but sure what harm. Main thing is Keegan and Co covered their arses in case it was and sure that's all that really matters, eh.

But on the bright side, it did save Dubliners from an influx of Garth Brooks fans.

    +1

Imagine that, it didn't turn into the most world changing event in Irish history and was pretty much entirely forgotten about after a couple of months...

    Forgotten by you.

I was hoping on maybe seeing him next year on his world tour once he comes to the UK or Europe, I won't say Ireland. But he said it in an interview last week that it would be another 3 years before he gets around on this side of the world.

And with the way how he's announcing dates in the the USA, announcing a city 6 weeks in advance and playing there...there's no way I can plan in six weeks or more like get cheap flights in 6 weeks.

Ah shure what harm, it was only 5 nights here. It wasn't as if I was going for his music. Just the drink. After 17 years.
