What's it worth?

I will be selling my 2002 Skoda Octavia L&K 1.9tdi shortly.

It has everything that was on the options list at the time: Xenons, cruise control, parking sensor, air-con, sunroof, leather and 6-disc changer.

Mileage would probably be considered high at 223,000 but it's driving fine, realiable and returning an average of 57/58mpg.

It's booked in for an NCT at the end of the month and I see no reason why it won't pass. Taxed until end of June and has four good Bridgestones on it.

    So, what's it worth?

great spec and motor tax at 1.9 not a killer. No idea what its worth though, you should get an idea from the comparable out there at the moment, if there are any...

That's my problem - there's nothing of similar age and spec out there it seems!

Maybe you could try an internet valuation service such as what's my car worth ireland or beep beep.ie.

Optional extras hold no value. So at that age, you can compare to any model. For instance, a top spec A3 from 2005 will fetch the same as a low, bog standard one. Depreciation has well and truly taken hold. Your talking €200 or so in the difference between models. Unfortunately, thats a reality of anything over than 5 years. Whats important at that age is the state of the body work, general interior and service history.

Btw, CBG.ie is a wayyy off on the 'average price' in my opinion. I ran a few models there versus my data set.

    I'm thinking €1750.

It's heading towards 13 years old and I cannot see someone willing to spend big money for it, the mileage will frighten a lot off but the high and rare spec should offset some of that fear imo.

You will struggle to sell that to a normal joe soap so advertise it on autostadt or briskoda where it will be appreciated.

Vectra would have a savage horn for it daysul and all!!!!:D

Thanks for the opinions. Checked some of the online valuation sites and they're averaging around €2,000 to €2,500!

Totally unrealistic price in my opinion.

I guess the extras might add some value but should also make it easier to sell. It's not showroom condition but what 12 year old car with this mileage is? Having said that I think I can honestly say it's better than any other Octavia I've seen lately of that age.

If you get someone who specifically wants a L&K then you could get over 2000 IMO.

1400 tops and it will take a long time to sell.stick it up on dd 1200 and take1000 with test .its the age and high miles that kill it
its a lovely car..when looking to see what its worth on a car just check year model fuel type exras dont really matter
asking prices are exactly what they are not what it will sell for
look for the cheaper ads and thats what it will sell at i bet there are loads priced 2k+ but they will sit forever

Yes, it is miles. The interior is very clean - but it will be going on sale with the genuine mileage on the clock!

I mean my car is similar and it has less than half the miles, I was trying to figure a value from it myself.
If it goes for that long, I'll never be able to get rid of it.

Sorry, I thought you were suggesting something else!!

The 1.9tdi seems to go on forever if you look after them.
