Does anyone use an ash carrier for the ashes from a stove?
    Something like this

This diagram shows its intended use.

Most of the sites on such carriers seem to suggest you can use them for a few days without emptying but it seems to be when you put in the second/third days ash it would be impossible to stop dust escaping into the room.

Has anyone used one of these types of carriers??

Got one of those ash vacs last year and the filter totally clogged up 3/4 ways thought it first use. So you are constantly trying to clean the filter with it - which is a horrible job.

yeah i have something very like that. tis handy as it'll take the entire pan from my big stove. normally needs emptying every 3 days with normal stove use. Though obviously as it gets fuller it wont take the pan all the ways so more dust escapes but emptying carrier daily would solve that.
Cant remember the make but it was made somewhere in ireland and is the XL version, think it was about €30.
I also bought an aldi ash vac last week. I'll keep using the ash carrier yoke for the majority of the ash and then the vac to clean up the rest.
So hopefully i'll get some value to lugging the 2 around and wont clog the vac too often, at least thats the plan....

    Thanks for that.
Do you take the carrier outside when you are removing the ash pan? Just thinking when taking the ash pan out of the carrier the pan is sitting in ashes so again dust would escape as unsettling the ash to remove the pan.

nope. just do it beside the stove with the door open so the convection draws most of the light ash back into the stove.
There's always going to be some ash particles that escape when cleaning a stove but its minimal with the pan and slow movements so as not to kick up ash. brush+pan/ash vac and damp cloth for the bit that escapes.

Look up Ash Clear ash box. This ash box is fully closed when tipping the tray of ash. No ash floating around the room. It can take hot ash and store up to a 7 days of ash. There are videos of it in action on the website.
