Hey. I have a back boiler in my house which heats the water but it doesn't do the rads. What alterations or what would i need to have installed to get this to heat the rads also. Thanks.....

More than likely you have what we call a flue set or also known as a domestic back boiler they are designed to heat hot water only. To heat rads you would need a wrap around back boiler and possibly alterations or maybe a new cylinder.
Best bet is to call in a plumber to have a look and give advise

    Hi mrty
Just wondering how you got on there. Thinking of getting a similar job done.
Got any recommendations for plumber in north kildare/west Dublin.

    Cheers

Hey. Yeah the guy said its just the type of backboiler i had its only for the water not the rads. He did tell me the one needed would cost from 350 to 400, then he quoted me 500 for instalation including pipe work. Fairly reasonable i thought, but i'm in Donegal and its probably more expensive if your dealing with city folk, Dublin, Cork or where ever. Good luck man it's a good idea i think.

Just in case you don't know, a back boiler is nearly as efficient as a stove. On average it will cost about 25% more to get the same energy output.

How would you know if your circulation pump is gone? I just moved into a house in maynooth, cracked on the fire, it heats the water and they rads upstairs get a bit of heat but downstairs there is nothing at all. Any advise would be very welcome.

Could be pump. See if you can find it. Could be a stat or timer or switch not calling for heat in that area. Could be a valve, either electrical or manual in the off position.
I would check the pump first. When you find it, have a good fire going for a couple of hours and being careful not to burn you hand feel it to see if there is a slight vibration. Is it a stove or open fire?
