Apologies if this is long, I want to give as much details as possible so people can advise.

Originally myself and my partner had separate JSA claims, having both been let go approx 2 years previously. She started an internship with Jobs Bridge 6 months ago and we moved on to one claim with her claiming for me as an adult dependent. At the moment I'm on her claim and minding the kids.

    We're currently receiving rent allowance.

I have a couple of questions.

What happens when she finishes her internship? All going well she'll be getting a full time 9-5 job at the end of it. Will we lose our rent allowance? I'm very worried about this as I don't think the starting salary will be great, but it's in her best interest as we're sure there's a possibility of moving up in the future. I'm stressed because at the moment money is very tight and I don't know how we'd cope with anything less.

Also she has informed me that the company she is working for will most likely be looking for another intern (in a different department) in the foreseeable future, as business is picking up, with a likely full time job at the end of it. (The boss knows I have good skills for the job as I have assisted with some problems they've had). I was wondering could I apply for this? From what I understand I am not currently on the live register due to being an adult dependent and could not apply. If this is true is there any way around it? This seems like an ideal job opportunity and dread going back on the register.

qualified adults aren't eligible, you need your own ja claim.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought.

If I come off her claim and start up my own one does my time on social welfare start again? Will I have to wait a number of months before I can do an internship?

If so is there ever any leeway with the rules? For example if you have a shot of an internship with a job at the end of it?
