Laptop won't exit sleep/hibernate

Basically on Saturday I put my laptop into sleep mode like I normally do when not using it for short period (I could have put it into hibernate by accident, not sure) and now she won't come back to me. It's a HP Pavillion dv6700. When I turn on the laptop the fan and lights start up as normal but I get a blank screen and no response to any input. I've tried multiple things such as leaving it turned on for a while, removing the battery and reinserting it, plugging in an extra monitor, removing the RAM cards and reinserting them, leaving it turned off and trying again the following day and the usual mashing of keyboard buttons in frustration. I've tried googling for solutions but couldn't find anything that worked.

    Halp :(

DV6xxx series were the ones HP and nVidia were sued over as they burned themselves to a crisp with inadequate cooling and overheating graphics cards IIRC. Matches your symptoms of not posting.

If its whats happened it can be "reflowed" to give a few more months of life but its not economical. Time to start shopping for a new one most likely. You could bring it to a shop to see if they can do anything but I'm reasonably confident theyll say the same thing.

In the past couple of years I've had issues with it overheating and the fan going like a dyson vacuum, despite doing my best to keep it cleaned of dust. In the past 6 months on and off I've even being having problems with the fan stopping! Had to poke-start her with a small screwdriver.

There's no point going somewhere to get it fixed so I'll probably be looking for a new one. I've had her for 6 years and with 2GB RAM it's not really suitable anymore for what I use it for. Thanks anyway.
