Anyone ever get their phone working again after its been in a washing machine? :o

Yep..I Left it in my jeans pocket while and the jeans were put into the washing machine!

So its now sitting in the hot-press and i'll leave it there for a few days and try and dry it out.

    Am I wasting my time?

    I'd say it's extremely unlikely...

Put it in a bag or rice and leave it in the hotpress as others have said.

Having said that, it only usually works for small amounts of water, not 40+ minutes of sustained soakage in soapy water!

Its in a bowl covered in rice and sitting in the hotpress...fingers crossed for a miracle!

I've already bought another phone so we'll see what happens.

    Cheers!

Best of luck but it's extremely unlikely. Do report back in 72 hours or so.

If that phone resurrects after three days, we may have a new religion. :)

You'll be fine as long as it was running iOS7 - linky ;)

In case you can't get it working again apple will replace it for €261.30 (price likely to go down once the iphone 6 goes on sale)

Would it not be €211 or €160 for an iPhone 5?

From reading that link Apple will attempt a repair.

Your post has replace. Would Apple give you another iPhone of the same model for 261 euro if your iPhone is beyond repair?

Apple generally just swap out phones for refurbished ones (except with the current "sleep button" and "battery" programs).
So normally you send in your phone, it gets checked and they'll send you a refurbished one (of the same model).
If it is out-warranty-repair it might be worth waiting a week or 2 until the price drops.

I got mine replaced with a brand new one on the express replacement program. Not too shabby.

Did it come in a plain box? If so it's a refurb. What's the first two letters of the serial number?

The first 3 letters are the factory - F97

The date of manufacture is coming up as August 2014
