Any recommendations on good winter gear lads?
Im after a good winter jacket, good winter tights and decent winter boots. Don't mind paying money for good quality. I had my winter gear on today and i was still cold ffs. I was sweating like mad and i am still cold.

Thought of an Assos jacket, with a decent set of bib-tights and a "hardy" base layer?

Wouldn't recommend them for anything other than sub-zero temperatures mind ....

The two are directly related. You want gear that will not make you sweat too much but keep you warm at the same time. If you're sweating like mad your gear is too heavy and you'll end up cold and tired. Stick with the summer gear with an extra base layer underneath for now.

I very rarely go in the big ring and my cadence is high so it's not the big ring. We were working hard on a few climbs so obviously I was sweating more. I just seem to be colder than everyone else on the bike. I am always hopped up and wanting more layers when my mates are wearing one base layer a jersey and maybe a gillet. My feet are freezing once it gets below 15 degrees ffs. Have got seal skin socks and overshoes but makes no real difference.

Are u always cold or just on the bike? Circulation problem? I'm still in shorts, Jersey and short gloves. Bit nippy at 8am but quickly warms up. My companions are mostly in long legs, jackets and overshoes these days. One guy cycles year round in winter gear though

Didn't think it was that cold yesterday but it sounds weird your feet are cold at that temp. Good socks maybe and overshoes but full winter gear yesterday would make you sweat big time. Though did meet a few lads in full winter even though I was in shorts and short sleeves ;) I wasn't overheating though that was for sure! :D

I think he might mean the gear you are wearing...not the one you are pushing.

Hmmm, out for six hours yesterday in shorts, short slv Jersey and light base. Not home till 19.45 and it was just right for the temp.

Not medically qualified, but I don't think you should have cold feet at 15c. Are your shoes too tight? Or is something pressing somewhere-inside them? What aboit bike position or saddle height? Does it only happen on the bike? Might be worth checking out.

Feeling cold or uncomfortable ruins a good cycle.

Haha yeah just realising this when I read it again!

I used to get very cold feet myself - and I think it was the pressure when pedalling cutting off circulation. When I switched to cleats with high float (did that for my knees) it went away. No science to this of course - just observation.

Im assuming those Assos links at the top are the dogs balls? What about the rapha soft shell? its getting good reviews here. I have slagged rapha off in the past mind you

I wasn't at the uncomfortably cold that I wanted to go sort of stage. I had cold feet though, which is a pain in the ass. Im thinking of buying the SIDI winter boots and going a half size bigger than my usual size.

A side question - did the extra float help your knee? Was thinking of changing to speed play peddles and cleats as it apparently has helped people with knee problems.
