    Hi all,
Recently i was at slurry and as i was getting nearer the bottom of the tank i found it harder to suck up the last load or 2 so i backed the tanker back a bit to lower the pipe further into the tank. as i was filling all of a sudden at the point where the pipe enters the tank at the man hole the pipe caved in like as if you were to push the pipe from either side and squish it in. i am certain the pipe was not touching the floor of the tank so what did i do wrong to cause this?

New pipe or cut out kinked piece and rejoin. Be sure to cut a good sized groove at bottom, stops it sticking to bottom

Do you know what would of caused this to happen? the pipe wasn't touching the bottom.

Driven over. Reversed and kinked pipe, that's how I usually did it anyway. It prob kinked where it usually sits on the concrete ledge of the manhole.

Anyone know how much and where to get a replacement pipe? Pipe on ours is well battered by now.

I think they're advertised regularly enough on DD, €150 from memory.. Don't know about the quality of them though..

It's something we need here ourselves, was spreading on saturday and one point of the pipe is weak and hissing a bit where its split.

Abbey retail have them anyway. Who is the Abbey agent near you, is it Lyons and Burton?

All dealers who sell tankers. Try farm services they have loads

OP, I think your problem was caused by the slurry been too thick.
When a tank is near empty, any lumps that were missed by the agitator come to the pipe and the pump comes under pressure whick caused your pipe to kink.

Indeed, and from re-reading I wonder did OP back the tank with pipe attached and lifting ?

As above farm services will have them, or cross were advertising them for a while in papers and on dd. go for 20ft makes it a lot handier as you dont have to be as close as with a 15ft pipe. If you can re use your current ends as they are stupid money and make the actual length of pipe look cheap....
