Premier Inn have rooms for about 40euro a night
    http://global.premierinn.com/gcc/en/hotel/UKPAD1/abu-dhabi-capital-centre
    (and also at airport aparantly)
In UK/ IRL they have family rooms (double + sofa bed) for no extra cost

cant vouch for these particular hotels, but as a chain they are comfortable, reliable and great value for money.

Have stayed in that particular hotel and it's actually nice. A little bit out of the city though but everything in Abu Dhabi is pretty spread out so you'll be relying on taxis.
That hotel is near the grand mosque and a large shopping mall called Dalma Mall (which I think is the best mall in AD)

If you're looking for something in the city centre, try the Mercure on Hamdan Street. It's cheap and central, the rooms aren't anything special but it's clean.

I've heard Centro hotels are good too.

We stayed at the st Regis sayiatiat island earlier this year and couldn't recommend it more, kids club and pool are fantastic, staff were great with our little boy .. They would babysit for you at night for a good rate, around 10 an hour,, last minute.ie gave us a great rate..
