Help with circulating pump!

I have installed a tuscon A 5m circulating pump as the old one was not working anymore. All in and wires connected through a thermostat. Small cottage with 3 bedrooms and 6 radiators dual system oil and solid fuel.

After I installed I vented air from pump before turning on. When first turned on it came on and ran at top speed for a few seconds then stopped.

Since then doesn't seem to have come on. When thermostat kicks in the power come on but doesn't seem to run. display shows light beside speed and power as 1w but doesn't move off that at all and radiators not heading up. I have vented pump a number of times but only water comes out no air.

    Any help or advise?

Have you checked to see that you still have power going to the pump?
I you have power, it might just be a faulty pump. It happens.

I have checked power with a phase taster and there is power going into pump

A phase tester is not an adequate way of testing for voltage, try getting a multi meter to do the check.

While you are checking for voltage with the meter, it would also be a good idea to do a polarity check.

And at the same time, throw out the phase tester before you're killed

    I checked the voltage and it's going between 236 & 239 mostly.

I also did polarity test and did not get any beep in the multimeter. Checked this a number of times same result ( am I right I used the same terminals as voltage but with power off? )

Check that the impeller is not stuck(unscrew the centre stud and try give the shaft a spin). If the shaft is stuck, this will fix it, if the shaft is free, the pump is bunched.

The pump is only brand new bought on Saturday and installed. Impeller is free and there is water inside air has all been bled out etc

What you are checking for is the correct voltage readings through the correct cables, i.e. Brown is live, Blue is neutral and Earth is earthed.

If all of your electrics are looking good, then its the pump.
It happens, just take it back to where you bought it for a replacement.

I put old pump back in for time being until I get to change the be pump and it is working. (had to change add it is leaking and old)
