    Hello everyone

yesterday I went on my first 100k charity cycle it was an enjoyable day but I had only one problem after the ride I was numb down below if you know what I mean for the rest of the day you will be glad to know that the feeling has returned in full today.

could this be because i'm not use to the distance and eventually this problem will go away in time once i start cycling more?

or are there any adjustments i could make,
a few months ago i had the bike professionally fitted which solved my knee problems and I am also loving my speedplay zero pedals.

You could try a few different saddles to start. They seem to be the most personal part of the bike.

Presuming your saddle is not too narrow tip the front down and sit up on the back takes the pressure off and should stop the pins and needles

You can help yourself by raising yourself and standing on the pedals for a minute or so in every 10. This issue is common and caused by pressure on the nerves in the perineum so you can reduce (if not eliminate) it by taking care to stand up regularly.

Any one of these depending on your riding style. The Typhoon might suit you. It solved the annoying perineum problem for me anyway.

i get this to a minor extent, and as above, i find standing out of the saddle every so often helps.

one other issue i have is that after about 15km, if i don't stop, my toes start to go slightly numb. usually giving my foot a good shake helps with this, but i don't know if it's saddle related.

I had the same problem after switching bikes, numbness down below after every ride so went and got a bike fit done and solved the problem still not happy with the saddle though it was an entry level selle Italia one should be more comfortable at this stage (5 months) was looking at these anybody know any more?? http://www.theedge-sports.com/product/59609/ISM-Prologue-Saddle-Black/

Get a proper bike fit, not the 50€ ones where some guy looks at you while you just sit on the bike in the shop but a proper pro bike fit. I wasted a load of money changing saddles & stems trying to fix problems. The bike fit would have been cheaper in the first instance and just used what was on my bike.

Try dropping the nose of your saddle slightly. If this doesn't solve your problem I would suggest getting saddle with a centre cutout like a specialized romin or toupe. Just make sure you go to a specialized dealer like cycleways who have a memory foam yoke you sit on to determine the correct size, as specialized make saddles in different widths.

I had the same problem when i did my first 100+ spin and i dropped the nose of the saddle a small bit and i have not had a problem since. Just made sure my Sit bones were taking the weight while i cycled.

Thanks I'll try that I think some of the problem was that firstly I'm not used to the distance and secondly I was riding with a fast group so I was pushing hard to keep up.

When you're push harder, you're more likely forward on the horn of the saddle. Next time you head out be very conscious of where you're sitting on the saddle, your sit bones should be on the widest part.

I wouldn't bother getting a new saddle yet.

IMO if you have to drop your saddle off level, you're compensating for something else. Either poor bike fit or not sitting correctly.

I had this issue when I first started. It was a combination of a few things. Saddle was to low meaning I was putting all of my weight onto the saddle as opposed to sharing it across my legs and ass. Next, the saddle was too wide, changed this for a 134mm. Third was my shorts/bibs were brutal, bought a decent pair and since these changes I have not had a problem.

The biggest difference was the saddle height. When I got it close to the sweet spot, it felt so good I could have rode commando :)

+1 for this saddle. I had a lot of discomfort and numbness until I got one of these.
