The 8 stage race starts tomorrow

    Website here

TV coverage on ITV and Eurosport, so if anyone wishes to discuss a stage please start a stage-specific thread. Just wondering if that Quigley fella will be jetting from there to Co Clare every day at the backend of the week to repeat his commentating achievement of covering both this and the Ras na mBan last year:pac:

Bradley Wiggins will be looking to repeat last year's victory, and Mark Cavendish will be trying to pick up at least a couple of stages. Sam Bennett will also be looking to repeat his success from last year which must have helped his successful quest for a pro team slot

Nicolas Roche, Ryan Mullan, Jack Wilson & Sam Bennett...

Good chance of a few Irish stage wins here ....pity it clashes with the Vuelata ...last year I thought it started on weekend Vuleta finished

It's going to be fascinating with the focus of some riders being on preparation for the Worlds more than winning stages or jerseys. Howevere the likes of Cav cannot be overlooked and he's bound to be looking to pick up all the "pure sprinter" stages but leaving some of those with a little more climbing involved hopefully to the likes of Bennett. Bear in mind though there will be a few Brits with no ambition of heading off to the Worlds who will be looking to pick up stage wins on home soil, making it a bit more difficult for the Irish guys (who may themselves be thinkinjg more about the Worlds)

Roche is 3rd favorite for gc, he has a real shot. Excited to see Bennett against Cav and Kittel. Mullen should have a real go at the time trial too.

I agree ...all the Irish lads are up for this and so far from what I read are not thinking of it a prep for the Worlds

Small team make it hard to control ...but tough enough field with Kwiatkowski , Konig, Izzaguire , Chava and of course wiggo

As already stated in the OP please start a stage specific thread if you wish to discuss today's stage

Just to clarify, and following comments made to me by a user via PM - the request to start stage specific threads is prmarily to cater for in-stage discussion. If anyone wishes to pass the odd comment after a stage is complete, then this thread is OK provided spoiler tags are used.

We will be running a forum feedback thread before too long and I am already aware of one or two potential tweaks to spoiler rules that may be suggested. For now though, given the TV coverage it is getting, and the high profile Irish riders participating, please start a separate thread if you wish to discuss what is happening during the stage

    Thanks
