    Hey all

Puncture last weekend, changed tubes etc and just notice tear in the side wall, photo attached

What do you think? New bike or new tyre, or am ok to keep using it?

    Cheers

New tyre as soon as you can. In the meantime you can insert a rectangular piece of plastic or similar between tyre and tube to keep the tube in. Milk carton or yoghurt tub or similar should do.

That's small enough that it could probably be stitched but for guarantee and peace of mind, I'd replace it.

    Cheers Folks

I had a feeling that was the case. Not impressed though as they only a year or so old.

I was expecting them to be more reliable than that.

I rolled over a load of gravel last weekend at quite a high speed, guessing that did the damage.

I've had to dump a tyre after 3 weeks. A year is good value IMO.

That rim looks a bit rough. Is that white spot on the left the wear dot?

Had to replace a Continental GP last week after 3 rides .... it just happens sometimes!

I don't think so. It looks like a wear strip on the lower 1/3 of the rim.

I find Koolstop salmon brake pads are much kinder to the rims and don't wear them so much.
