Concealer for a male, need help

    Hi everyone.

I hate to admit this, but here it goes.

I'm a male of 25, and have very deep set eyes which are also hooded, (thanks mom and dad) so I constantly have dark circles around my eyes (more so under them). This is due to the lack of fat in my eye socket area, so they always appear dark.

I have been asked before if I'm a junkie, which offends me to a great extent and makes me very self conscious about them.

So in the last 2 years, I have been using one of my sisters foundations to cover it up. I am not entirely sure of the difference between concealer and foundation, but the stuff I put on seems to work kind of well. However it is a bit liquid-y and wears off after a few hours.

So, I just have some questions, which I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

    1. What are some of the best concealers on the market to cover up very dark circles? Preferably something that will last all day.

2.Is it weird if I was to ask someone to show me how to put it on properly? I'd feel a bit uncomfortable just meandering through the boots makeup department and going up to one of the pretty girls asking for help. :pac: lol.

    3. In regards to question 2, is it possible to book a private appointment with a makeup artist to show me tricks on how to put the stuff on?

3.Do women notice that I am wearing concealer?

Thank you very much for your time!

Hi, I would suggest you have a look on YouTube for some men's tutorials. Goss make up artist is worth a look

I've actually gone into Boots Chemist in the past with a fella with similar issue. They showed him the varying shades and he chose the option he was most comfortable with.
At work I'e given my concealer to the odd fella who needed to cover a spot or what-not and you would not really notice at all tbh.

You could also walk into Brown Thomas and just be confident speaking with one of the girls applying make-up. They do this for women, apply varying types of make-up for women to see what suits; and I have seen men also ask them questions. They will do through what you need; and show you exactly how it's best applied and what brushes etc to use to maximise it's appearance/cover-up, and non-appearance to others looking at you.

It is far from weird you asking this; far from out-of-the-ordinary tbh. Don't forsee any issue, just have confidence. You could always ask a female friend to accompany you if you feel that'd help (in terms of asking questions etc).

    Hope that helps,

I'd highly recommend going into one of the make up stands in BTs the girls at them are great I find and offer excellent advice. I'd advise going to the Mac stand as I found them best for your first time however I no longer buy Mac so I don't know if that's changed.

Will anyone notice you wearing make up? No they won't I've been wearing concealer for the past two years to cover up acne and scars and no ones noticed.

Now I don't know how bad your dark circles are but have you considered getting a dark tinted moisturiser that's darker than your skin colour and mixing it with your moisturiser. I find this covers up the majority of my imperfections.

Just buy the product and use YouTube tutorials and mirrors (make sure you view yourself in natural light) to gauge how you look.

Actually, only do this if you feel so self conscious about asking for advice that it would stop you fixing your issue

Excellent. I'd like to thank every one of you for taking the time to reply.

I will head into town tomorrow and talk to someone in BT.

As a not very big make up user with dark circles, I love the pen concealer by la Roche Poway, available in most pharmacies and comes in several shades. Its really easy and handy to use and I have tried a few.
