Waist training - corsets?

Has anyone here ever tried waist training? I'm reading up on it and it looks good! I'm not expecting miracles and losing an inch or two would be nice, but I'm mainly interested because they are far more attractive than spanx and they give a gorgeous silhouette when worn under clothes. The Kardashian gang swear by them and they all have lovely figures imo.

Has anyone ever tried it and can anyone recommend a reasonably priced corset to start out with? Thanks in advance :)

I wear corsets all the time and have done for the past ten years. If you have never worn a steel boned corset before you're going to have to do it gradually as you can do damage to your body if it's done too fast. Retro in George's arcade would be the best place to get a corset, I have my black under bust corset from there 8 years this year and it's still my go to corset for nights out. It was expensive, €100 at the time but worth every Cent. Make sure you get properly fitted in a proper corset shop such as retro. I haven't bought from Retro in a while as I think their too pricey, I mostly buy from corsets Uk. They have an official site and Facebook page. They always have a fantastic range at good prices, some great 3 for 2 sales etc just watch the shipping as it can be a bit expensive. Always go for steel boned corsets, they'll last you a life time if you take care of them.

As for weight loss, doesn't happen by wearing a corset. It will flatten your stomach and nip in your waist while wearing it, that's about it. Their hard to conceal if your wearing a body con dress or figure hugging clothes.

Waist training is different to wearing a corset. Waist training is more in the realms of tattoos, piercings and body mods.

I tried those spanx things, just tried them on a few times. They weren't for me.

SingItOUt you have been wearing corsets all of the time for the last 10 years? May I ask why? Do you wear them going to work?

I wear them as a personal preference, I don't wear them all day every day of course and yes I wore them to work.

I've been reading up on waist training for a few years, because it interests me.

I have to completely disagree with the advice of going to Retro and getting an off the rack item.

If you genuinely want to train your waist, it'll cost.

You should be getting custom made corsets, made to your exact measurements (2 inches smaller in the waist than your actual waist size), steel boned, of course.

First custom made I got, I paid 200 euro + shipping. Waist training isn't cheap!

If you just want a nice shillouette under clothing, something steel boned from retro is fine.

If you are determined to do waist training, it should all be made to your measurements, because an ill fitting corset, worn 23 hours a day(standard for waist training), can do damage to your organs.

While I think it's a pretty class idea, it's more a body modification thing than a fashion thing, and IMO not worth the time, discomfort or money.

There should be no discomfort while wearing your corset, if there is then you are wearing it wrong or tightening it too much to begin with. Waist training takes a lot of time and should be done gradually so you don't damage your organs or body. I never tighten mine to crazy sizes, that look has never appealed to me. I don't believe you have to have tattoos and piercings to wear a corset, I don't have piercings just a few tattoos. I wear them for fashion and body confidence. Many famous burlesque stars who wear corsets don't have piercings or tattoos. Many of my corset wearing friends don't have any body modifications.

But back to the topic , if you were to go down the custom corset route as the above poster suggested, there are a few good irish online sites so you'll save on shipping but I'd trust the English ones more but that's personal preference and what you want, prices are crazy but you get what you pay for.

I don't mean discomfort from an ill fitting corset, more the not so comfortable feeling when you start training because corsets are much more restrictive than other clothes.

As you said, don't train down too fast. 2 inches at a time is standard.

I never said you need tatts or piercings to do it. I'm saying that waist training is a body modification in itself. It's 'unnaturally' changing how your body looks, similar to tattoos, piercings, cosmetic surgery, etc.

I also used English vendors for training corsets. Couldn't find a decent irish one tbh.

Bought a corset recently from ebay it was a bargain. I'd like to get one made to measure and thats the plan but I bought one to try out first to see if I like it. Mines steel boned but an off the rack size which thankfully fits quite well. I've a few back / postural issues and wearing one really makes me sit and stand up straighter and when I don't have it on. I'm not doing waist training with it but it does make a nice siluoette under things. for waist training i reckon you would need to pay for something custom fitted
