Velux Maintenance

Right. Sun is shineing and it looks like it may be dry all day.

My velux windows have a little black down at the bottom corner from a leak years ago. I treated it at the time with one thin coat of yacht varnish after a call to velux on how to handle it.

4 years on now and its a good day to get another coat for winter.

I am googling it but so far have not found any real sound advise on exactly what to use. Some are saying prime and paint.

I need to get this done today.

What brand of varnish is least hassle and last longest? I intend only to give the frames a quick rubdown. As I am very lazy on my day off.

Quickestoption is probavly to use a water based varnish, I know ronseal do one specifically for kitchen and bathrooms which would be more tolerant of water and steam. These dry very quickly soit should be possible to get 2 coats on in a day, just make sure you sand the wood thoroughly beforehand and use a synthetic fibre brush.
