Hi . Looking for some info . My Farm yard is currently on a meter belonging to the old house beside it. We payed the bills on that up to now . . House changed hands recently and I now need to separate my supply from that meter. Supply is poor at best . My house is two hundred yards down road on opposite side with a good supply . .option 1 extend pipe work across road and pipe to farm yard ie house and farm on same supply on only one meter Or option 2 extend as before but accept separate meters for farm and house .

I haven't an answer for you but I was an IFA meeting the other day and heard that farmers are going to get billed on the double one bill from the council for the farm and anther bill for the house from the new Irish water board.

Thanks hugh . I wonder does that mean that irish water will fit 2 meters separately regardless of how I supply the farm . Currently meter is not fitted to my house yet . Not sure how allowances are worked out if all goes through the one meter.

Heard the other day that Council plan to charge anyone that has a well deeper than 6 foot for their water  (They say that if the water is below 6 foot then that water is theirs)

Yes but where did you hear that Hugh?

If it was from an oul fella that also kept saying things like "mark my words" and "this country is gone to sh!te" I think you can take it with a pinch of salt.

I live close to ballygowen mineral water. They have a load of wells. I wonder if the council will try to charge them for the water

That would be great,im guessing they will take over running costs of the wells which would suit me better.
I would gladly pay the 100e if they make sure I have a water supply as it probably costs 4/500 per year

I currently am on a private/group water scheme.
I asked them what was the situation regards private/group v Irish water was told to fill in the form stating I was on group/private and there would be no more about it.
As for meter's I currently pay for each meter regardless if I use water or not.

Oops I might have just ran with that story.

It was chap in a machinery parts store had this story
Suppose to have been about a former national IFA chairman who had two farms who was approached by the council because his demand was putting a large demand on the public supply (thinking about this now the story seems less likely)

So anyway he sunk 2 wells put down 2 wells some large storage tanks got in contractor to put in a whole new network of water piping and large water troughs supposedly costing close to 40k (I know)

Anyway's the story went on that the council came back with an estimate for his water bill he told them to take a hike as he now had his own supply.

And the story went oin that the council lads said that in 2 years when the public supply bills were up and running that they would be back with his new bill as that they were going to be charging all private well owners that were taking water from deeper than 6 foot......

Anyway as you said it is all here say and might be nothing at all to it....hopefully...
