What do ye dose your cattle for and how often? I saw a lad dosing for his third time this year. Just thought I'd ask my fellow experts.

Closomectin on arrival and bayticol for red water then use youngs poron for follow up.

Not sure yet.. trying different products of drench, pour-on and injection for worms and fluke. Ivomec super has been over used here so im changing it around a bit. And I dont think the combined doses are much good for fluke as I recently had 4 out of 10 bullocks killed in factory with liver damage.

So I think im going to dose separate from now on. Also vaccinate for blackleg, tribovax t

im injured at the moment so my best mate came in with me this evening and we dosed my calves as 2-3 were looking skittery and dull

overkill but when I got the chance I gave them

    * 30ML of GROVITE
    *ivermectin injection
    * 35 ml of fenbenazole white drench

their last dose was July21st white drench as above.

Cows got 70ml of tramazole cheap oral drench for fluke and worms

great to get a bit of help I usually belt away on my own

    Why two worm doses?

I knew I was doubling up on the worm doses but I had no pour on for lice etc and maybe its in my head but I find the ivermectin puts a good coat of hair on them.

white dose was very cheap and cleared the hoose I had in them back in july,.. do you think it would be very harsh on their systems the two worm doses GS?

Hi, I just use Ivomec super. I have a few coughing lately. Would they have hoose? Should I be using a drench as well as pouron?

I wouldn't worry about it. It's a trick/method used in Oz and NZ to cope with anthelmintic resistance. Sometimes they have to use a triple dose (three wormers).

no harm to mix it up, pour ons are handy but pricey... I had few calves that had hoose bad.. real deep cough head down tongue out.. drench sorted it .. I strip grazing sucklers so calves in tighter areas with older cattle so I'd imagine worm burden is higher as opposed to set stocking

Older cattle can decrease worm levels as they'll kill a lot of what they take in due to their greater immunity.

There's no need to double dose (drench & pouron). Either should be effective on it's own.

Don't let Hoose get established. It's a worse type of pneumonia as regards permanent damage than the usual suspects. IMO.

Have a low lying out farm where a few acres flood and it's a nightmare with fluke. Any stock grazing there would have 3 or 4 doses got over the course of the year at a minimum I'd say. All out wintered do have to dose a lot more than I'd like. Not convinced by the effectiveness of pourons either.

ive outwintered with last 3 years with bad nights inside only, but using one pour-on Closamectin, not sure if i should print name, in yellow box.up to 6 yrs ago id use Siv injection covering all and i had to dose cows as worms became big problem, used white dose for fluke, no problem. vet recons too strong an injection prevent immunity to develop;had to use bolus on cows at time.apart from horse fly in summer i had no problem. used pour-on 3 times this year, no fluke in cattle sent to factory, bought ins were dosed and again in 4 weeks as coughing slightly but gone now.blackleg injection is only other one i use, used BVD last year as bull purchased.
