Hiring a solicitor, First steps?

I went to FLAC last night and basically I've been mistreated by an organization and they are also retaining some of my property. To cut a long story short the FLAC Volunteer strongly suggested I hire a solicitor.

I'm hindsight I should have asked how do I do that etc. but my brain just went I'll do a Google when I get home and see what comes up.

What I didn't think of was the fact in Dublin there are a huge amount of solicitors!

Basically can anyone give me any advice on what I should do and look out for when hiring a solicitor?

Any insight into the payment and how that generally works?

Get somebody you trust to recommend somebody who is honest and competent.

Some work, like a lot of conveyancing work, is often based on a fixed price. Some work is supposed to be based on an hourly rate, but this is unattractive to many clients, in practise.

There is not enough information to have a very good idea of the fee involved in your case. You should discuss that with the solicitor that you decide to hire.

If I had to guess, it could be a District Court case for the monetary value of your belongings. The fees for District Court cases are not usually that high.

OP Solicitors are obliged by law to give you an estimate of their fees before you hire them, this is done after an initial consolation for which there may or may not be a fee (between E50 and E100 usually).

Get some one you trust to recommend a solicitor and phone them, they will take it from there. Remember Solicitors dont bite :D
