Last year (I was in First Science), someone from the SU came to our different subject lectures and asked for volunteers to be class rep. If there were a few people who raised their hands then they would each get to introduce themselves and say what they're about etc. and then they'd face away and we voted by a show of hands.

Just a quick vote in a lecture if several people nominated themselves. Each person would talk about themselves and why they should be elected and then we voted.
