I need one for a project I'm working on and would like to buy it in Ireland if anyone knows somewhere that sells them? I appreciate any replies, thanks.

What size / kW rating are you looking for?

Very few generators would have a PM rotor, most have a rotor winding which the current can be adjusted in to allow the voltage output be regulated ( car alternator).

A small bldc or pmsm can be got from an old CDROM drive. If you want something bigger grab an electric bike bldc/pmsm motor. Bigger again get a prius transaxle, you get two for the price of one!

It would be around 4kW. Which category would that fall under? Thanks for your help.

you'd be best getting an electric bike motor most of these are PMSM or BLDC motors, the only difference is the shape of the back EMF.

What exactly are you going to use it for? Are you going to recitify the 3phase output? Do you need a regulated voltage from its output?
