Painted walls

Question mostly for the landlords out there - how often would you realistically expect to have to repaint a place? All walls painted white if that makes a difference. :)

Would you expect to find marks and stains here and there after as part of normal wear and tear?

Some property managers repaint at every tenancy change, so they can be certain it was stain free at the start.

Personally my place is entering its 7th year of being rented, and when I asked if I should get it painted between tenants, and the answer was "doesn't need it yet ".
