Your least favourite euphemism?

    There are many to do with sex that annoy me, but 'bumping uglies' takes the biscuit. I've seen it a few times on boards and I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would use it. What a stupid saying :mad:

    Anyway, whats yours?

    Is that a euphemism?

    I have euphemisms all wrong.

    "Materials Technology (Wood)" for the junior cert.

    It's called woodwork ffs! I wouldn't mind it, but they call metalwork "metalwork" so there's no need to even put in the "(wood)" because it can't possibly be anything else.

    Stupid.

    Logistics = stores or driving.
    Oxford Dictionary "the branch of military science relating to procuring, maintaining and transporting material, personnel and facilities."

    I once had to ask about a post that contained the acronym DTD. Apparently it stands for "doing the deed", an incredibly annoying euphemism most commonly found on forums where people are discussing issues around trying to conceive. You're having sex in order to have kids ffs. If you're mature enough to do that then why is there a need to come up with such a bloody twee euphemism, and then to compound your stupidity by turning it into an acronym?

    I think some people need to look up what a euphemism is...

    I'd consider scumbag a noun rather than a euphemism.

    A girl goes into a cocktail bar and asks the barman for a 'euphemism'.

    He gave her one.....

    A girl walks into a bar and asks the barman for a 'double entendre', so he gave her one.

    That's that joke.

    I have difficulty understanding most euphemisms anyway, but the one that came to mind straight away was...

    "touching cloth"

    It's one of those you'll wish you never googled :(
