I am just finished my QFAs and was thinking to do another six modules to get the Uni Dip in FP but I'm a bit nervous as they are written exams rather than MCQ. I averaged 67% on my QFA results and I'm wondering if anyone has done the diploma and if it is much harder. I'm particularly worried about doing the financial maths module on my own.

    Hi missusb,

I am currently doing the course. I haven't done the financial maths module yet so I cant really comment on that. It would be quite a step up from QFA's in the sense that you have to attend weekly lectures and material is more about forming your own opinions rather than just learning off a book. It does give you a much better understanding of Financial Planning. The Tax and Estate Planning module is quite difficult but passable if you work at it.

The point of doing this course is to work towards the Certified Financial Planner designation which is far more recognised worldwide than your QFA as everyone has that.

My Advice: If you have a genuine interest in financial planning then I would go for it. If your not sure then don't. It costs around €6,500 to do the course so be sure that its the industry you want to work in.

Any other questions, let me know.
