Assistant Packaging Technologist

Hi Guys,

I have an interview coming up shortly for an Assistant Packaging Technologist. My background is in Marketing so I don't have experience working in this area. I would appreciate if someone could share their thoughts/experiences of working in this type role? What type of characteristics/skills would someone need to suit this role? Thanks a mill

Sounds like an operator job, running machines, loading unloading of packaging machines, performing counts, accurately filling out batch records. Defo need to be a team player, little bit of technical knowledge is always good but not neccessary, possibly shift work would be involved. Good attention to detail is a huge one.

What industry? There are different definations of packaging technologist depending on the industry

Could be a fancy way of describing someone who packs bags in supermarkets!!

Or it could be an entry level job designing packaging solutions. Sounds naff to some, but it's actually a highly specialist area and apparently quite in demand if you have the right skills. Combination of engineering and marketing skills, and can be quite a major part in deliverying successful products.

My guess at skills for this job is highly detail oriented but with a design flair, good a problem solving, and for the pharma/medical industries follows rules and procedures to the T.
