    Hi there,

Theres a ticking/clicking sound coming from my 01 focus 1.8 tdci.

The noise only appears once the engine has warmed up, it seems to be coming from the belt area.

It's audible at idle and increases and decreases in "rythm" with revs up to around 2000rpm.

Any idea what this could be?

    Cheers

Posted a similar issue recently, completely different car though.

    Check your oil level first.

Check timing belt may be due a change it would be 100,000 or 10 years also could be fan belt or air con belt.

    As said also check oil.

Could be tensioner few things actually could be.

Yeah oil was my first thought too. Checked it and its fine!

It was recently serviced and had a timing belt changed.

Noise definitely coming from the belt area.

Im hoping its nothing too serious!

I replaced an aux belt tensioner on one of those engines before for a ticking noise but it could be any of the idler pulleys.

It's strange that the noise only appears when engine has fully warmed up.

Could it be a timing belt tensioner? Although i thought they are changed as part of the "timing belt kit"?

Hydraulic tappets can be noisy sometimes.
BTW, 01 TDCI? wouldn't that be TD or TDDI?

    Yeah 01, definitely a TDCI 115 lump.

    It sounds exactly like this

The description on that video says it was a faulty high pressure pump.

Whatever it is, it's hard to tell from a YouTube video
