Opinions needed ASAP, Rathmines or Liberties?

So I have been accepted into liberal arts, both Rathmines and Liberties College. Weighing up the two, I like the vibe and area of both but really don't know which of the two are better academic-wise. Would really appreciate opinions from people who know anything about the two. The more information I can get the easier it will be to make the decision but I only have a couple of days! On both websites they mention "reserved courses" in different universities however I don't know if this is for the actual college's liberal arts course or just for people who get their distinctions in *any* fetac course. Would really appreciate if someone could answer that too! Very torn between the two at the moment. The other thing I'd like to find out is which of the two have easier assignments and better teachers. Module wise I'm leaning towards Liberties, surrounding area I'm leaning towards Rathmines. Rambling here now, thanks anyone who can give some input!

I would honestly say they are much the same. Both colleges are part of the same ETB (City of Dublin ETB, previously VEC), some of the teachers have been in both colleges.

The same links were forged years ago when the City of Dublin VEC also ran what is now called DIT. They are following the same courses, the teachers would have followed the same selection process and have the same employer.

I'd say go with whichever one you prefer. Both have excellent reputations.

Ok so the "reserved places" on the university courses which are listed on each colleges website for each liberal arts course- are they actually reserved for that course or are those places reserved for fetac plc courses in general? Because the uni courses listed are different on each website as far as I know. Will double check that now! Thanks for your reply.

"Reserved places" means that all PLC applicants throughout the country compete against each other for places on those university courses. There are very limited number of places on these courses.

For the majority of courses in the Institutes of Technology PLC/FETAC students compete again Leaving Cert students but with the university degrees they only compete against each other.

I would suggest that you ask both colleges for figures of how many have progressed to the degree course you want to go onto. They are required to have these for the Dept of Education and Skills. If they can not help you contact the university and ask them.

    Best of luck
