Dublin to Jakarta €400 return on Etihad in November

Etihad Airways have a special deal on flights from Dublin to Jakarta for about €400 (€390 on some sites) through Skyscanner or Momondo. Good for going to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Bangkok or other places in South-East Asia as it is only €50-100 return from Jakarta to those places.

I'm not sure for how long this deal will be available, but I will be able to get to Bali for €460 all in with only a few hours stopover. The dates I'm travelling on is 05 November-26 November and various other dates in November are available.

How did you spot that deal ?
Is is through Skyscanner and the likes.
I went to the Ethiad site for the first time and did not see any obvious deals.
Price you found is very keen !

I just found that deal at random by trying out different routings and dates. It is not shown on the special offers page of the Etihad website but if you put in dates departing at beginning of November and returning at end of November it comes up as breaking deals and about €430. However, you can get between €390 and €420 at other online sites that Skyscanner and Momondo use like Tripair, Travelgenio, Ebookers, Eflights and Lastminute.com.

I booked last night but I just checked now and it is still available for the price I mentioned. I do not know how long this fare will be available but I think the plane is almost empty because there was only one other seat booked on the entire plane on the Abu Dhabi to Jakarta leg. I booked the Jakarta to Denpasar (Bali) return for €66 on AirAsia. Can use AirAsia, LionAir or TigerAir for cheap flights all over South-East Asia if you want to use this cheap deal to get somewhere else.

Thanks for reply. I was looking for value to fly to the Far East and hop around from there. Hard to beat that price. Might have to be booked soon?
Is it possible to stop over in Abu Dhabi without penalty, on way out and/or back ?

    so tempting,

Bali in July last year ran close to €900 , although this time i would head straight for the Gili islands !!

That is a great deal, I would say one of best of this year together with Qantas sale and LD Lines ;-)

Both Emirates and Etihad allow you to stopover for free. If you book through the Etihad website in November you can stopover in Abu Dhabi free of charge. Just checked and it was €423 on the outward leg, but I assume it would be the same on the inward leg or both legs. Expedia and Ebookers also allow stopovers at €424 and €430 respectively. Etihad provide a free coach to downtown Dubai if you prefer to stay there.

This is a excellent deal. Looking at going to Bali on our Honeymoon next July. Pity the dates aren't for then as the prices seem to be crazy for next year. Any one have any idea as to when would be the best time to book flights to bali for next July?

Hahaha, nicely put.. I was in Kuta and the Gili Islands there last year myself, the best place in the world I've come across for that kind of carry on.. :D

I actually came across these prices a couple of months ago on Skyscanner. The easdiest way to find things like this is to use this link on skyscanner. It finds you the best price on return flights on any random available dates to any given country. Well worth a look from time to time.. Some very tempting fares there, unless you want to visit Greenland maybe!

Some good deals I can see there is Dubai return ex Dublin for €325 next March, and Perth return for under €700 ex Shannon next March as well

OP, does your search mean return flights of over €800 if you include stopovers.
Must you go straight through to get a fare in the region of €400?

No. The price I mentioned (€423) includes a stopover (DUB-AUH (stopover), AUH-CGK; CGK-AUH, AUH-DUB). The dates I used were leaving Dublin 04 November, leaving Abu Dhabi 07 November and returning from Jakarta to Dublin on the 25th of November. You need to play around with the dates to ensure you get the cheap price, but from what I can see it only applies in November.

The stopover does not add to the total price, but you have to use the Etihad website or some other sites like Expedia and Ebookers that facilitate multi-city booking. Some other sites like Tripair, Eflights, GotoGate and Travelgenio are about €400 but don't seem to enable stopovers on their sites. I also am not sure when this deal will expire but I would advise you to book quickly if you want to avail of it.

Thanks Op for the reply. In the meantime, I contacted Ethiad and found that the fare doubled if you had any length of stopover in Abu Dhabi. SO should I use Ebookers or Expedia to allow for stopover ?
Will book as soon as I can find a cheap / free stopover !

OP, just tried Ebookers and Expedia just now on the dates you outlined.

    Found fares over €800.

Must be doing something wrong !

if you look at the fare rules, it states - no stopovers permitted.
you can have a stopover of 35hrs on your way to jakarta or 27hrs on way back.
also the travel must be completed before end of nov.

I just checked those dates on the Etihad website and only allowed for a short overstay. Another poster said this fare does not allow a long overstay. Anyway, I bought this ticket just to get to Asia cheaply and did not need or want the overstay option. If you require a longer overstay in Abu Dhabi or a refundable ticket, maybe this one is not for you. But a short overstay and fare of €400 is still available if that is the most important thing for you.

Bought 2 tickets last night before deal expired, I think.
€423 each return with a 24 hour stopover in Abu Dhabi on the way out. If I stayed over longer that that, the fare would more than double.
So, effectively, I got 2 for the price of 1.
Not really sure if the deal has expired.

    Thanks OP
