    Hi Guys

I'm just wondering what my options are around a 7 seater SUV that has a 2.2 litre diesel engine or lower. Running costs too high on LR Discovery, Q7, X5, XC90 etc...

    My list so far has

    Hyundai Santa FE
    Mitsubishi Outlander
    Kia Sportage
    Nissan Qashqai+2

am I missing any other options?

also what is the tax on the latest model of Santa Fe and odes any one have an honest review of it that has owned one?

    Thanks
    Senan

    Nissan xtrail - 1.6d 7 seater
Landrover Discovery Sport 2.2d 7 seater (due in Jan 2015)
    Kia Sorento 2.2 7 seater
Landrover Defender 2.2 7 seater (2350 tax though)

Kia Sportage is a 5 seater

what would be your recommendation for 7 seater 4x4 that's cheap to tax and run

We are running an 8 seater toyota Landcruiser 3.0 at present and believe it or not it is a lot cheaper to run that our previous Discovery 2.7 - MPG and servicing that is but not motor tax.

We are looking to change and the wife wants a New Discovery Sport but I'm trying to get her to look at the Xtrail and Santa Fe.

My cousin has a Santa Fe and loves it he does big mileage and hasn't had a bit of trouble in 18 months with it.

If money was no object I'd have the Landrover, however I think that the Santa Fe is my second choice.

yeah im leaning towards the xtrail afer a quick look online as its tax is 570, I think the new santa fe is 570 also but is still quite dear but looks a super machine, i drove one and really liked it so xtrail may be cheaper to buy and run

I'm pretty sure the new sante fe is in a much higher tax bracket than €570. I was looking at them last year to replace my 2006 old model sante fe and IIRC the motor tax is over €1k p.a.

    ah ok fair enough

tax on new 1.6d 7 seat XTrail is €280 which is impressive!

Had one of the older Santa Fe's (2002) for 5 years - no problems, not even minor issues.

Then had a 2007 Kia Sorento (168bhp auto ). - again nothing at all went wrong with it.

My current Kia Sorento (197bhp auto) - have it since Jan 12, nothing wrong with it.

The new Sorento is cheap to tax, very high spec, 7 seats, big boot, good mpg, fairly powerful for class \ size \ price, and has 7 year warranty. The Kia AWD is very good off-road and gives tremendous stability during normal driving, corners, wet roads etc.

I'd recommend either to a buyer but I think the Kia is better for tax and value for money.

I've a 2008 Citroen C-Crosser 7 seater, basically the Outlander shell with Citroen 2.2 engine. The fact that it was built by Mitsubishi seems to have made it more reliable that any previous Citroen's I've owned. Have it 3 years & going great. Tax nearly a grand though which is a pain in the whatsits !!.

    Nissan Qashqai+2

Doesn't exist now as a 7-seater in the new model. As mentioned above, X-Trail is the replacement. I have mine a month now and it's great. Rearmost seats are only for kids, mind.

How about a ford s-max. Got one two years ago almost new from the uk. The sixth and seventh seats in the rear are a bit tight for the average adult but fine for kids up to 10/11. It's that bit less than a ford galaxy.

I drove an Xtrail today, very nice car. Taking the missus to see it tomorrow.

I drove the x trail last week and was disappointed . Ride was fidgety and unsettled and felt I needed to change gear constantly to keep it in the right revs for there to be any torque which is quite unusual in a diesel.
The boot is quite small too even when the third row seats are flat.
However it is loaded with kit and does look good .
I was told they are selling really well and 15 to 16 week wait for an order.
