    hi boardsies
random vague question for you all. I have been onto various government sites/talking to people on helplines but am getting nowhere...possibly because this is going to sound so vague (and make me sound like a bimbo!)

    anyhooo,
I got a letter stating I had to attend for an 'interview' to get my card issued and would need to bring various id, birth cert etc. this was from a government body and I was to attend somewhere in Dublin. I obviously didn't read the letter in detail and misled it, promptly forgot about it until I got another one saying same yada and giving me a new apt time, which I didn't read properly and also misled....(I know, I know).
the letter mentioned something about child benefit, social welfare and free travel pass.

I am employed but am currently out from work and getting illness benefit payments. I also receive childrens allowance but no further social welfare benefits and my husband works.

please shed some light on this department/location/give contact details! (without judging my dizziness)

It's more than likely regarding the issue of a new Public Services Card:

Try contacting DSP Gandon House, Amiens St at 01 8172640

Otherwise use the contact numbers in the link above or the online contact form.

    Did your Illness Benefit stop?

Are you in receipt of disability allowance that would explain the travel pass.

i think cushie has the answer as my illness benefit has continued. I don't have disability and don't even have a travel pass!

I know this letter has I had to go to the interview myself a few months back. Ring the closest social welfare office and ask them where you have to go to get your new social welfare card. basically that is all you will be doing there. You get a credit card size card with your picture on it and your signature as well.

If I were you I would follow this up in the morning as there is a good possibility that they will presume that you are no longer at that address when you failed to respond to 2 requests to attend st your local office.
That would he enough to have your illness benefit and child benefit suspended. You could possibly get a visit from a SW inspector even, so don't ignore any calling cards left by him/her.
That's why I asked if your Illness Benefit had stopped. I thought maybe your child benefit (today) had bbeen suspended and thats what had prompted you to post.

It's for your Public Services Card... I've missed two appointments too, one because I was in hospital giving birth and the other because my daughter was in hospital having open heart surgery... I plan on ringing them this week and getting it sorted.
