Holiday Pay - Moving to a new Job

    Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help. My friend works for a company for the past 2 years full time & is entitled to the standard 20 days holiday per year. She also has to work every second Saturday 9-1 &if she works 2 Saturdays she then gets 1 day holiday. She got a new job starting next week & is leaving the company, she has taken 15 days holiday so far this year but with all her worked Saturdays still has 17 days holiday left. Is she entitled to money back for these or how does it does?

    Your math don't add up; working every second Saturday for 8 months = ~9 additional holidays + 20 days for a full year (of which she has earned 13.3 to date) for a total of 22.3 days of holidays. This leaves her 7.3 days that she'll get paid.

    Sorry, I make it sound confusing. Its usually every second Saturday but she has worked 34 Saturdays this year so far which gives her 17 days additional holidays. So far out her standard 20 days she has taken 15 to date. Does this make more sense..

    it sounds like she has worked every Saturday. 35 Saturdays in an 8 month period.

    I was not sure the exact number, must be not it is worked out, she has 17 days additional holidays with the Saturdays on top of her standard 20 days holidays. How do you work out the days she is entitled to money back?

    IIRC she's entitled to a pro rata rate on her annual leave.

    so if she worked 8 months that 2/3 of the 20 days entitlement. as for the saturdays she might be best arguing that any leave she has taken thus far was the days in Lieu for working the saturdays especially if they cant be carried forward. meaning that the 15 days taken are 15 of the 17 lieu days meaning she has her full pro rata annual leave entitlements due to her plus a possible 2 additional lieu days.

    Did she work a full 8 hours every saturday. Doubt they would someone an extra days holidays for working a few hours on a Saturday. Sure you would never use all your holidays at that rate if you worked every saturday.
