Are you good with money? Do you have a separate saving account and/or Credit Union account where you place precious spare cents each month? IF so, how much do you save on average per month and what are you goals?

Or are you reckless with money and spend it on luxuries and keep the local bar staff in their jobs at weekends?

I really need to safe better so looking for inspiration...

Don't know if it still exists but The Penny Bank used to be very effective in that you couldn't get access to it until a certain date before Christmas.
Plenty of saving accounts that prohibit access afaik.

I'm great at not spending and living economically. I've it down to a fine art.
The cheaper you can live the freer and more independent you are in this world, and the better your quality of life will be. I know people who live in relative luxury, but are effectively wage slaves to their financial commitments.
I've a low income to start with, so I don't get to save much.
But then again that's no bad thing, as whatever you do mange to save in this life, the government will take off you when you get to nursing care stage, currently at the rate of 700 per week.

I could be better at it, but I'm trying to put away between 200 to 300 each month.
I never used to save anything much, but then a year ago my husband lost his job, that woke me up sharpish. I'm much much more careful with money these days, even though he's working again now.
I was actually amazed at how well we coped on the one income - we never felt like we had to give anything much up, really. So I've no idea where the money used to go.

I managed to save a third of my wages a year buy setting up a standing order to a credit union account which i couldn't touch unless i got off work and physically went into the CU. regardless of how much you can manage i feel it is a really good way of saving; especially if you set it up on payday, so you get into a habit of not having it/missing the money.

Aiming to save about 1000E a month come February. Purpose is just for future in general.

Also about 850 a month going into my pension (company makes a really big contribution so costs me title).

I was great at saving but a lot of stuff has come up, and I do still pay a few hundred into pension every month so I suppose that's still saving

Yeah, I'd be decent at saving. I hate spending tbh, feel bad when I do. I'd always be giving my Dad stick for being stingy when shopping and stuff when I was younger, but I am the exact same myself really.

I'm absolutely terrible, I get it and I spend it.

My husband is very sensible and never seems to spend on non essentials. He has no interest in material things. I'm getting better though :)

I set up a 7 day notice period savings account a couple of years ago, prevents impulse buys.

This! Forgot about that so will edit my original.

I think it's a bit of a double whammy though, a lot of people who don't save often don't have a pension either unless their company pays one for them.

Maybe but then that would be a reason for spending not saving! :P

Whats the deal with savings accounts? Can you not touch the money at all until you want to take it all out?

Depends entirely on the account tbh. Some have minimum periods before you can touch it whatsoever, others requirs a set notice period to withdraw (e.g. one month) and others again allow you to transfer to/from other accounts as you please.
