Apparently they are to start a transatlantic flight from Belfast. :roll eyes:

See that stupid PPRUNE not one of their rumours has come true.

Its not completely beyond the realms of possibility; if they had more 757s.

Rumours about EI T/A from Belfast have been around from 4/5 years ago. Personally I have always thought that there is a market from Belfast to Canada due to the inclination/historical preference of Ulster vs Canada. (remember my Ulster upbringing?)

However the move of EI from BFS to BHD has pretty much nixed those rumours.

P.S. we may have rumours on boards,ie...but PPRUNE is a realm beyond reality sometimes.

Well we now have Virgin aswell.

Yeah that site is an absolute nightmare, I wish they'd come out with stuff when they know for sure that its actually happening.

The Virgin Atlantic service is currently only planned for a 6 week period.
So while good for the airport isn't a good long term prospect for the consumer.

Well I heard it might be extended.

The NI market is big so I think it will..

They are ending SNN-MAN so assume that's where the capacity is coming from

flew back on this route last night with Ryanair, often the fares are E40 return...

Timings are horrendous though, for business or leisure (Leeds has a lot of live music venues)

US connections add quite a bit of traffic also to the other routes.

Thats the same with the Ryanair ones.

Me and my mum are heading to an opening day in England and we ended up having to stay for three days due to the stupid flights at Ryanair being scheduled at 6am and 9pm.

It wouldn't be a rumour then!

Good news for EI regional to keep expanding, it'll be interesting to see how many more new routes they'll commence between now and Summer 2015

I would say it's coming from the termination of Dublin-Southend.

The latter route is switching to Flybe who will use their own aircraft in the morning and a Southend based Stobart aircraft for the second flight.

This works well for EI and funnelling more pax onto the TA at DUB.

Leeds/Bradford urban area has a population of 1.7m people and is the 4th largest urban area in the UK so there is good potential market to develop the traffic, especially at more reasonable times. I only thought to myself where would be next a few weeks ago! Leeds and Liverpool came to mind!

So DUB will now have quite good connectivity with Stobart air to the UK from the end of October:

    Aberdeen
    Birmingham
    Blackpool
    Bournemouth
    Bristol
    Cardiff
    Edinburgh
    Glasgow
    Isle of Man
    Jersey
    Leeds Bradford
    Manchester
    Newcastle
    Southend (Flybe / Stobart combo)

Are there still 2 more ATR72-600s to come for Stobart?

Liverpool is the obvious next gap; but East Midlands / a return to Doncaster / Humberside /Newquay could all be worth a
try now that they can offer proper connections and with the dwindling of domestic flights to London.

Anywhere with an airport and a population is a likely target. As the word spreads in the UK Dublin will become very attractive.

Heard a rumour recently of re opening the EMA but not more since. ALC did it before with Sheds/Saabs/Nifty 50s.

Be a possible good connection for AL with the Westbound flights

The Evening Echo seems convinced that ORK-DUB is resuming for S15:

    http://www.eveningecho.ie/2014/09/08/talks-reintroduce-cork-dublin-flight-advanced-stage/

I assume this'll be EI branded rather than BE branded although there are already BE branded domestic flights here.

I was very excited about this when I saw the post on boards, then as I read it I saw Deirdre Clune was the source, my heart sank, she's better known as "Deirdre Clown" here in Cork. Her daddy's connections (Peter Barry) got her elected. What she knows about Cork airport is only what she reads in the paper.

The DAA will be delighted with this new route from Cork to Dublin, that will decrease the amount of Cork people going to Shannon for US flights. I cannot see them getting much business people (going to Dub and back ) on that flight though considering that you have to be at the airport 2 hours before boarding, at that rate if someone left home in Cork and drove via the M8 to Dublin they would be almost there by then.

Also with this connection Cork can say bye bye to any aspirations of a direct US service.

With the exception of peak summer I'd never consider there to be a need to be there 2 hours before a domestic flight with no hold luggage. The tiring effect of driving 250+km cannot be ignored.

The only reason I stopped flying to KIR when working down there after the motorways opened was that the timings are designed for connecting, not for business traffic - this could be the same with ORK also.
