Help finding an Irish made Shetland style jumper.

    Hello,

I'm on the look out for some jumpers at the minute. I've found I like the style of Shetland crewneck jumpers. Two traits they have that I would like are the saddle shoulders and the tightish neck. Unfortunately I can't post pictures, but it's pretty easy to find the sort of thing I'm talking about.

Naturally enough, I can find some from Scottish sellers for a reasonable enough price. I think I could get one for 60 quid incl. postage, maybe cheaper. That would be pushing my budget.

What I'm wondering is can I get an Irish made jumper in the same style? I've done a bit of looking and I can see woollen Aran jumpers for around €50. The only ones similar to the style I like are Cashmere blends, and they're well over €100. Does anyone have any leads? One thing I've seen from looking around for Shetland jumpers is that some makers don't have any web presence and any dealings with foreigners like myself would be done over the phone or by email. I'd be thinking that some Irish knitwear manufacturers would be the same, so that's why I'm not turning up much.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Have a look at Kerry Woollen Mills - they have 2 sweaters you might consider.
What brand were the Arans you found? (Just out of curiosity)

Thanks for that. I'll have a look there.

One was Aran Crafts. I think. I remember looking at the Sweater Shop and Irish Handcrafts websites, anyway. Glenaran was another site.
