Gay Treacy's PA12 is in superb condition. It's been modded to improve it's STOL performance. In a good wind it almost seem to lift off nearly vertically.

I wonder why I heard nothing about this.

Flying in Ireland magazine usually lists fly-in's.

I don't read any flight magazines, but I heard/ read nothing in local media.

I know it is not much use to you after the event but I believe there will be a piece in the Wexford Echo soon.
Maybe you could ask them if they would publish a notice before next years events.

Well worth subscribing to FII if you've even a passing interest in the sector here. Not particularly dear even for dead tree delivery, digital is even cheaper.

@man98, because it's effectively a Fly-In held by a Society, on it's own airfield and not a public air show. There are probably two dozen fly-ins around Ireland each year, either by flying clubs, airfield owners or by Societies like ILAS.Some are by invitation only, some are open to all and some have an air display attached.

Yes and some have burger vans, bouncy castles and other attractions that bring in the locals. They're always very relaxed affairs and an interesting day out. But rarely widely publicised.

Some fly-ins are borderline air shows and a lot are just routine club/society fly-ins, essentially aimed at themselves. Having a fly-in open to the general public raises insurance concerns, so we in ILAS do not invite the public, as our Fly-In is not an airshow, merely a gathering of like-minded individuals on a leased airfield. We cannot invite the general public into land we do not own, but if a member of the GP happens to wander in, they are welcome to have a look around. We don't charge an entrance fee or put on any items such as bouncy castles for kids and so on. We considered all of that and decided that it would be more trouble and cost than it was worth.

    regards
