Court Appearance

I was talking to a colleague of mine just now and she has a court appearance next Monday. It's for a speeding charge that she forgot to pay. I presume she will get an extra fine and a few extra penalty points so have been saying it's nothing much to be concerned about. However, she is having difficulty getting out of work commitments and was wondering about hiring a solicitor to attend on her behalf. I understand that she is not making an argument in court, just needs to take the medicine.

I suspect she will go herself alright in the end but it just came up in conversation and someone suggested the hiring of a solicitor as a way of meeting her work commitments even if it would cost extra.I was wondering if getting someone to go on her behalf would make any difference i.e. worsen her situation and how much the average solicitor might charge?

    Thanks.
