Is it possible to allocate your tax credits over a certain number of weeks, say 18, 24, 34 etc, instead of 52 if you know you will only be working that number of weeks?

Eg. A non permanent teacher who will only work 34 weeks of the year but their tax credits are still allocated over 52 weeks so 18 weeks credits are going unused until they claim back at the end of the year.

I rang revenue and they weren't much help so any input will be appreciated.

No. You will have to wait until the end of the year.

Not really true; on a cumulative basis, there will be a usage between January and MAy/June and when the temp teacher recommences from September they will have accumulated further tax credits which will mean a bumper September payday.

True. And come to think of it you could also file a P50 and get an interim refund after a month.

But you still have to wait for the passing of time to get the tax credits. You cant get them early.
