It needs a photo to the background to make it appealing for anyone to look at it, I have liked it but will wait until it has more stuff on it to share.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 752 ✭✭✭micraX

Iv ssid that before about vegetables, the whole of Ireland's fresh produce sector needs a fair trade label.

Would be hard to beat a nice field of HE stores on a sunny day. To me this is the face of good irish beef.

Yes but the consumer mightn't get that. What about a lasagne? Because all we need for fair trade is an uplift of 20 cent per pound of mince in the shops.

Yes, a big shiney tractor, that will help with the image alright..

I agree with Brian, something along the lines of a picture of cattle, a picture of a suckler herd would be nice.

Jaysus not lasagne. It's not even an Irish dish!! A burger or a shepards pie or something.

You can invite your friends to like it on left hand side.

Well if I cant even get a bunch of farmers to support it why would you expect the general public?

We are trying to promote fair trade, not go showing off the latest toys.

I think a lot on here don't want their 'private' facebook and their name to be public, if you only have 15 likes it wouldn't be too hard to narrow down who's who on here..

Theres also probably the idea that this is a facebook page, I'm not sure anyone expects it to change the face of Irish beef farming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,134 ✭✭✭nhg

Irish Dishes & maybe recipes would help to get it liked & shared, if you could get a chef to help would be good (the likes of corrigan or someone who cooks good irish dishes with simple recipies). It needs to appeal to the mums, their the ones out shopping & on facebook, dont think a field of cattle will get them to 'like or share a page' or a big tractor either!

    Its looking good so far.

Sure couldn't we photoshop both together since it combines the message. Good grass fed beef right onto the dinner plate.

Just be careful. Is fair trade a registered trademark?

    It's not registered(in Ireland anyway )
But does 'fair food' sound better?

I don't buy my lamb in Lidl, I buy it off two different butchers. I think I pay their kids through college :pac:

I eat a fair amount of meat per day. Wouldn't take me too long to work through a whole lamb carcass deadweight.

Prob wouldn't put people through college but enough to help!

Ok well please try and do your best those that have facebook accounts. We currently have 40 likes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,831 ✭✭✭✭_Brian

Facebook isn't the viral marketing tool that people think it is. To be at 50 likes at this stage is reasonable considering there is no engagement or posts only from yourself...

Perhaps if you could get someone with some popularity (no offence OP) to make a guest post about how they support Irish beef and beef farmers.. The likes of a celebrity chef or some such, then joe soap might take heed, their a fickle lot and seem to just follow the celebs like plebs.

Maybe e-mailing some of these so called celebs and see would they post or at least reply with a quote that you could post and copy them on, tagging or whatever its called.. Same with our ministers.. County Councillors love to be acting for a good cause, most have good following on FB and so this is how you could see a wider audience... I'd wager that your current posts are seeing a reach of no more than 20-30 people ??

FB isn't only about likes, its about the "reach" of your posts. You could have 500 likes and yet FB will only show a post to maybe 20 followers, if they click on the photo or a link in the post then it will show it to maybe another 20, if they interact then maybe another 50.. This way they say their only showing content that people enjoy and interact with.. If nobody in the first reach group interact with your post then FB don't show it to any further people who've liked your page as it has decided your content isn't interesting enough.. There's a whole debate about when you should make a post, if you post and nobody has interacted in maybe 30 minutes then your post is dead in the water..... As you see I've done lots of 4am reading on these things, insomnia has its rewards, but I'm going to stop now as I'm just being a nerd :o
