Struggling to stop drinking.

Hi folks, I believe I am addicted to alcohol although I don't drink during the day I struggle in the evening time and cave in to a few drinks and feel really bad the next morning.
When I manage to not drink for few days I can see a big difference in my mental health. I am a lot happier and more positive. It's a viscous cycle where I stop for a few days with a lot of determination ..Am a lot happier! And then I decide I deserve a drink one night. And all of a sudden I am back to drinking everynight.. How can I stop this. I have tried and failed many times.. Thanks

Can you let us know what you mean when you say you "deserve" a drink? Because most of your post is against it - but at the same time you are acting like it is a reward. And there is a disparity there.

If you see drink as a reward - then all the things you are saying against it mean nothing.

So why is it a reward?

I suppose it shouldn't be. I fall for the cravings I suppose. I quit cigerattes last year. To quit the drink I'd properly have to disown the family..

Ha, don't worry, they'll get used to it, once they get over the initial shock. Been there.

    Best of luck, Feckthis.
