Is there better value in buying overage friesian bullocks ?

    I was at the mart last Saturday and seen over age bullocks selling for cheap . From what I hear there's better value even .

    I wouldt be dealing with friesian .I just thinking to myself that it was a bit value with overage stock

    But if you have courage that beef will come again they could be ok but remember 50% killout is good for them

    I be buying depending on age. You may have two age barriiars to watch. 36 and 48 months. unless cattle 48 months is real upper age limit after that unless cattle are really scarse factory will not give a price. Some factory's are slow to kill over 36 months however generally again you will have to target a market.

    If these are cattle that will grade O-/O= at 700-750kgs LW I be looking at them with interest. However they are hard to carry over winter. If you got them to 660-680 kgs before end of Nov with a bit of ration and they killed 330kgs 3/kg nearly brings them into 1K euro.

    However if you had a short winter and could store over same and get to grass next March they be a lot of 800kgs by Mid June. Killing 400kgs at 3.75/kg would bring them into 1500 euro.

    If they were P type cattle I be letting them there.
