Do I need a driver's licence for this job? (Sales Rep)

Field Sales Representative for Phone Watch. I can't find an answer, the job advert doesn't say a licence is needed but it says experience working face to face with customers is a must, and as its ’in field’ I imagine there's travel involved. However, the advert for sales manager states a licence is a must while the ad for the rep doesn't mention it, thoughts?

I did the same job about 5 years ago and it was the worst job I have ever had. You will work 14 hours days including travel and it will cost you a lot just to work as you will be paying for petrol and will always be eating out so can not save money by cooking yourself.

It was 6 day weeks of at least 12 hours and usually 13-14 hours. I was expected to work free days to go to team building activities that also cost in petrol to even go to.

If you didn't drive when I was doing it you would go with someone else who was driving and pay them the petrol money usually at least a tenner a day.

I was never working in my own city, the closest place would of been 80 miles away.

You don't get paid a wage you will get paid per alarm you sell and the way it worked out was for every 100 doors you knock on 5 may be interested and 1 may sign up and 20 of the houses would be the rudest people, of course you are being rude knocking on their door. This worked out on average of about 3 alarms sold per 2 days worked. You would of gotten about 120 euro per alarm sold minus a "security" in case the person canceled their alarm that you would get back after 3 or so months if they didn't cancel.

In my 6 or so months doing this job I sold probably 150 alarms with 25 cancellations.

OP stay away is my advice. Stay very far away.

Doesn't sound pleasant but its a living and anything is better than the dole imo. Just to confirm, if you didn't drive yourself you traveled with someone who did?

Yes, you would pay them the petrol money and would usually come to at least a tenner a day depending on how far you were going and how many was in the car.

I would say it would be at least 15 euro a day now due to increase in petrol costs.

And OP you will really need to be good at sales or this job will cost you money. The amount of people who would join us when I did the job and leave after a few weeks because they have not sold anything was crazy.

Also you will have to work a training week for which you will not get paid for as well.

Financially, that's hugely questionable - if you're on the full adult rate anyway.

In the two D2D jobs I did, it was a requirement and you were asked to produce it.

Phone Watch is commission only though last time I was talking to them, so it doesn't really pay you to be driving around but some of these companies will pick you up and drive you to the destination where you work for the day (morning till late evening).

Well that depends to be honest. With the dole, while you are 'stuck' and at risk of going stir crazy you do have a guaranteed amount of cash coming in each week. With a D2D 100% commission job, yes you will get out of the house but you have no guarantee of getting a wage in each week. It's very much sink or swim.
